Joseph Jayaraj
Between 2003 and 2006, Joseph was a senior executive with RAB Capital, a hedge fund manager currently managing over US$6 billion, working alongside the CEO, Philip Richards, on the extremely successful RAB Special Situations Fund, which has returned investors 30 times their original investment since inception. Joseph set up the fund’s investment capabilities and oversaw the majority of the fund’s early stage private equity investments, a major driver behind the fund’s growth to its current size of US$1.5 billion. He was responsible for primary execution of investment transactions, including origination, deal negotiation and structuring, due diligence, and completion.
Joseph has guided several investee companies towards successful AIM Listings, across a broad range of sectors (including metals & mining, energy, renewables, and healthcare). He has also worked with the similarly successful RAB Energy Funds and the recently launched RAB New Technologies Fund.
Joseph’s corporate finance experience began in Mergers and Acquisitions in the London and New York offices of Merrill Lynch, primarily completing LBOs and other structured deals in the Chemicals and Oil & Gas sectors. Prior to that, he established a litigation/risk management consultancy in Melbourne, which he successfully grew and divested.
Joseph obtained a Bachelor of Laws / Bachelor of Commerce from UNSW and an MBA from INSEAD.
